Cookies & Privacy Choices

Understand how LocalDesk uses browser technologies and manage the privacy choices available to you.

How LocalDesk uses browser technologies

The website uses a small number of cookies and browser storage keys, all its own. Most are essential: they keep you signed in and let checkout work. One group is optional: measurement and attribution, which runs only where you allow it.

The website loads no advertising or third-party analytics tools and sets no third-party cookies. Its fonts and images are served from LocalDesk itself, and the only other service your browser contacts is our sign-in provider, for your account.

Essential technologies

These are needed for the features you use, so they don't wait for consent. Blocking them stops sign-in or checkout from working.

ld_access_claimCookie (HttpOnly)Lets this browser finish an invite enrollment it started.30 days, or until the enrollment completes
ld_walletLocal storageRemembers which browser wallet you paid with last, so it's offered first.Until you clear site data
ld_wallet_tx:…Local storageRemembers a transfer your wallet sent for a payment request, so the page doesn't ask you to pay again.Until you clear site data
ld_founding_checkoutSession storageMarks a checkout opened from the founding event in this tab.Until the tab closes
ld_choicesCookieRemembers your privacy choice.6 months
ld_regionSession storageRemembers whether your region asks for consent first, so it's checked once per tab.Until the tab closes

Measurement and attribution

This optional group helps us understand which pages and links bring people to LocalDesk, and which source a pre-order came from. Visit counts record the page path and where a visit came from, never your name, email, account, or wallet. If you start a checkout, the source and any Founder referral code are saved with your account's pre-order. Counts are written to our own server logs and database, and nothing here is shared with advertisers.

NameTypePurposeKept for
ld_srcCookieThe first site or campaign that brought you here, kept with a checkout you start.30 days
ld_refCookieA Founder's referral code from a link you followed, kept with a checkout you start.30 days
ld_f:…Session storageMakes sure a page or checkout step is counted once per tab.Until the tab closes
ld_vidLocal storageA random identifier the founding event's pages use to count a visit once a day. Our server keeps it only as a hash.Until you clear site data
ld_t:…Local storageMakes sure a founding event page moment is counted once a day.Until you clear site data

When measurement is off, none of these is set or read, nothing is counted, and turning it off removes any that were set. Our servers check your choice too before they count a visit or save where a pre-order came from.

Your privacy choices

Measurement and attribution

Checking this browser's choice…

  • Where consent comes first. In the European Union, the rest of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar and Switzerland, or wherever we can't tell your region, measurement stays off until you allow it, and the site asks you once.
  • Everywhere else. Measurement is on unless you turn it off here.
  • Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as turning measurement off, unless you allow it here.

Your choice applies to this browser on this device, is kept for six months, and can be changed here at any time.

Browser controls

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings. Clearing them signs you out and resets your privacy choice. Blocking essential technologies stops sign-in and checkout from working.

The desktop app

The LocalDesk app doesn't use browser cookies. It keeps your session in the macOS Keychain and its working data in a local database, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Changes

If we add a cookie or storage key, we'll list it here before it's used, and we'll ask for your consent first wherever the law requires it.
